Can you believe it? Another summer has gone by. They say as we age the years go faster and faster. Today was the first day I was able to accept that it’s fall. Some of the leaves are falling and some are starting to change color. The summer vegetables are gone, and the winter ones are growing. Kale, turnip, rutabaga, endive, romaine, swiss chard, peas. I still have some string beans, arugula, parsley, basil, chives onions, corn, raspberries, oregano, sage, eggplants, peppers. I’ve already started dumping chicken poop into the vegetable garden. It’s all in piles. The chickens are out roaming about eating lots of crickets and other bugs. They are starting to do a good job on my lawn. They love the green grass. When the lettuces in the garden die out which will be around November the chickens will be let into the vegetable garden, to rake down the piles of poop, eat a lot of the weeds and goodies that where left. In about two weeks we will start our fall cleanup or should I say pickup of the leaves and the rest of the mess. Before you know it Christmas will be here and that’s another story.
